Catalan De Las Mercedes Pacamara

Pacamara is one of the varieties we always look forward to seeing from Catalan de Las Mercedes. Grown by Nico in Chimaltenango, Guatemala, this lot shows a more expressive side of the farm, with the variety’s characteristic sweetness and complexity taking center stage. It’s a distinctive coffee that still carries the balance and drinkability we’ve come to appreciate from Nico’s coffees.

Catalan de Las Mercedes has become an important part of our Guatemala program over the years, and this season we purchased four containers from Nico, making up more than a quarter of our total coffee purchases for the year. Much of that coffee will make its way into our blends, while coffees like this Pacamara give us an opportunity to highlight the range and character coming from the farm. We’ve also been fortunate to visit Catalan de Las Mercedes with many members of our team, making this a particularly meaningful coffee for us and a great connection to the people behind it.
